Did you know? The idea for my book first came to m Did you know? The idea for my book first came to me all the way back in 2018. Eight years ago!!

In the years that followed, I toyed with the idea of writing. I asked myself: am I capable of writing a whole book? The answer back then? I didn’t know if I was. But that hasn’t stopped me from trying. On and off, I’d work sporadically on my book until something changed.

At the start of 2025, I decided that if I really wanted to say I’d written a book (and I really, really wanted to be able to say that), then I’d have to start taking it seriously. And that’s exactly what I did.

I made a promise to myself to commit to writing my book, and I’ve stuck with it.

It hasn’t always been easy. Feedback in the early days made me question everything, but I persevered and found myself using every spare moment I had to write.

Now… the end is actually in sight. I don’t know if I have more than one book in me (I have plenty of ideas), but just in case, I want to make this book (my first book) the best it can be. That’s why I’m in no rush to share it with the world just yet.

Three rounds of self-edits, followed by a professional edit, and I’m now working on what I believe will be my second-to-last edit. In this round, I won’t move on to the next chapter until I’m 100% happy with it, regardless of how long that takes.

In previous rounds, I’ve been able to complete a chapter and move on to the next in order to see where the story goes. But now it’s getting down to the nitty-gritty, I can really enjoy the process of perfecting my words.

I’m only 3% through! But, as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait.

The final round of edits will follow in good time, and I intend to print off my entire manuscript for that final round and read it from beginning to end, like a reader would, making notes of anything I feel needs tweaking.

So, for now, I’m enjoying the process.
